Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father of UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, has recently revealed that he is doing well following his hospitalization.
Nurmagomedov’s family admitted him into professional medical care on the suspicions of pneumonia and influenza. A hospital in Makhachkala, Russia is where he is now recuperating.
Russian sports commentator, Ramazan Rabadanov, is responsible for breaking the news of the 58-year-old’s admission into a hospital, to the public.

“Abdulmanap is in Makhachkala, in the Second City Hospital. He got sick in the mountains. He walked for two days, the brothers barely persuaded to go to the hospital. While coronavirus is not confirmed. They say the flu. No one is allowed to visit him. The world champion Shamil Zavurov also fell ill. They say there are other sick athletes,” wrote Rabadanov on his Instagram.
The medical staff treated The Eagle’s father for his symptoms and administered a test for COVID-19, which fortunately came back negative. The medics tested Zavurov as well and the champion tested negative for pneumonia.
Insisting that he is in good spirits, Khabib’s long-time coach issued a statement on Sunday,
“I feel fine, everything is well,” Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov told TASS, a Russian news agency.
Khabib Nurmagomedov Yet to Issue a Statement
The undefeated fighter has not broken silence regarding his father’s situation till now. Though Khabib recently asked his fans to cherish the time that they have with their parents.
“In this difficult time for all of us. Pay attention not only to your family but also to your parents, because parents are the keys to paradise. Appreciate the parents. Because those who no longer feel sorry for them and would give everything that they have, just to sit with them for 5 minutes over a cup of tea,” wrote Khabib on Instagram.
The American Kickboxing Academy fighter returned to his homeland, from his San Jose training camp late last month.

However, shortly after his return, the Russian government issued travel bans to control the spread of Coronavirus. Forcing The Eagle to withdraw from his fight against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249.
In light of current events, Ferguson is looking to take on Justin Gaethje for an interim title on May 9th.
“The Ferguson vs. Gaethje fight is one of the most violent fights you will see. I can guarantee that. This fight is going to be incredible. The winner will fight Khabib for the title. This is for the interim. 100 percent (the winner fights Khabib),” Dana White told ESPN in an Instagram Live session.

“Khabib will be back in September or October,” White later added. The UFC President expects Khabib to take on the winner of Ferguson vs Gaethje, sometime in the autumn.
