A fight between Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman might bring UFC 249 back from the brink of uncertainty. The headliner card between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson stands on shaky ground, as the former is currently “stuck” in Russia.

“The Nigerian Nightmare” recently took to Twitter to call out Masvidal.

A fight between Kamaru and Masvidal has been in the offing for quite some time now. Now might just be the moment for UFC to make the bout a reality.

The tweet comes on a day of spontaneous and shocking events. Khabib’s statement regarding his inability to attend UFC 249 sparked a row, and minutes later, Masvidal took to Twitter to tell UFC that he is willing to fight on 18 April.

Although “Gamebred” pointed to a fight with Tony Ferguson, Kamaru’s tweet brings a new perspective to the situation.

The two have been at each other’s throats for quite some time now. Their recent altercation at Super Bowl Radio took the rivalry to a whole new level.

Since then, it has been confirmed that the two will meet inside the Octagon soon. Even Dana White confirmed he wants to fix the two up for a match during the International Fight Week.

However, if we are lucky, the two might face-off in just a month’s time.

Apparently, both Masvidal and Usman have already spoken with Dana regarding the fight.

Jorge Masvidal declining a fight with Kamaru Usman?

While Gamebred himself claimed that he will be available to fight on April 18th, his management seems to think otherwise.

First, the fighter’s management team stated they could not reach him. However, 24 hours later, they said that Masvidal has not been training, and thus, cannot fight.

However, the fighter’s statements regarding the bout are all that matters. And Masvidal is looking forward to making a memorable appearance.

If Dana White gets this fight on the card for UFC 249, it truly will transform into one of the biggest events of the organization. Instead of the greatest Lightweight, the UFC Universe might just watch the “Baddest Motherf****r” take the Welterweight title home.
