UFC 251 is over, but the file is not yet closed. We have many speculations around the next opponent of Jorge Masvidal. The Gamebred showed up for the fight against Kamaru Usman on very short notice, and truly, he showed some guts and hunger.
Only last week, Dustin Poirier had given an interview on THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas. Dustin fought and defeated Dan Hooker on 28th June this year. He explained how Masvidal was anyway training for five weeks with him. It is just that there was no contract that was signed. So Jorge was in good shape and this makes the whole ‘short notice’ point a little downsized. But Masvidal does deserve another chance for the brave show he put up.

Who would Jorge Masvidal next fight?
Is it going to be Nate Diaz? Is it going to be Conor McGregor? Jorge Masvidal has been regularly giving interviews to journalist Ariel Helwani, and a recent one answers all of these questions.
Ariel asked Masvidal who would he like to fight if Dana allows him to pick a name from the card. He replied, “Usman obviously it’s a no brainer. Could they offer me bigger names and pay me more money, yes, for a fact. But if it’s up to me, Usman, you know…”
Even during his post-fight media conference, The Gamebred was continuously pointing towards the rematch that he wants. That BMF title does not seem to satisfy this veteran fighter. He wants a bigger title shot and wants to bring it home. He also went on to point that if not for him, no one else would have shown up to fight the Welterweight Champion on a 6-day notice.
“Nobody was actually like…[taps table] hey Masvidal didn’t do it, I’m gonna do it”
Masvidal vs McGregor, ever?
Admit it, we all want to see this fight but it looks like it is far from happening. Conor’s stance on a comeback remains unclear, and Dana too is yet not very sure about this card. Although, Dana believes, it will be a great fight if it ever happens. But when asked about the chances of this clash, Masvidal replied, “And I don’t care if they get out for me a bigger fighter, I would like to fight Usman.” He added, “You can tell me that McGregor right now would make xyz dollars, the biggest pay-per-view, you get history right”.

“So it’s not about money, it’s…it’s about I want that damn belt and I’m stubborn.”
So yeah, a lot is going to have to fall in place for these fights to actually happen. Gilbert Burns is definitely going to get his title shot, and the outcome of it can change dynamics. Stay tuned!
