Dana White has pushed through unforeseen boundaries to pull of UFC 249. Regardless, of what he has been through, White is now certain that the event will be successful. The UFC President can assure this because he has a blinding faith in the main event. He claims Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson will not disappoint the audience in any case.
Dana talked to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports about all aspects of UFC 249. Kevin brought up the fact that despite boasting of a twelve fight winning streak, Ferguson is only a -170 favourite heading into the fight. However, Dana found nothing unusual about the odds. He reminded everyone why Justin Gaethje is still one of the best fighters on the UFC Lightweight roster.
“Gaethje is a very dangerous fighter. This is an insane main event. Tony hasn’t lost in eight years. Gaethje has had six fights in the UFC and had seven bonuses. This fight is incredible. I mean it’s a very violent main event. Anything can happen in this fight. Anybody can win. Both guys have the tools to stop the fight at any point in time.”

Even though Dana is speaking as a promoter, most UFC fans will agree that the pairing has “violent action” written all over it. However, it is still only a consolation prize for a fight that was originally planned for UFC 249. Regardless, White asserts that consolation is the next big thing after the original one.
“If you’re not watching Tony vs Khabib, this is the other fight that you should watch Tony in.”

Dana White gives his guarantee for people hoping to buy Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje on PPV
Dana White made every attempt to hype the event. However, one would argue that it is his job to do so as a promoter. But despite being a promoter, there are certain things that Dana doesn’t guarantee for every PPV. One of them is value for money or guaranteed action. While he tries to achieve it, he is never very vocal about it. But Gaethje vs Ferguson is different.

“As a promoter, there has been a handful of times when I have gone out, and I have said that if you go out and spend the money to buy this fight, I guarantee you it’s gonna be fireworks. You will not turn off the TV. If you spend the money and buy this fight, just with the main event alone you’re not gonna be disappointed. It’s impossible.”

Dana is pinning his hopes for action on the main event. However, the card is intense all the way to the prelims. Even the prelims have high hopes of enthralling the viewers. If the event takes place, which is a real possibility now, it will provide the sight of relief for fight fans globally.
