Conor McGregor went on a Twitter rant and lashed out at all top contenders in the UFC Lightweight division. He targeted Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. While the Khabib, Tony and Dustin hit back at ‘Notorious’, the newly crowned Interim Lightweight Champion also joined the fray to expose the Irish fighter.

Justin Gaethje exposes Conor McGregor

‘The Highlight’ tweeted, “isn’t it ironic that this dude is on his knees. Careful Conor McGregor you are losing your clout. Dustin Poirier is sitting there ready to go like I was for the last 3 years.”

Along with the post, there is a video of ‘The Highlight’ trying his absolute best to get ‘Notorious’ to sign the deal for a fight.

In 2018, just after the UFC 223 media day bus attack, ‘The Highlight’ said, “I want to fight him.”

A year later, he reiterated his point. “I want to fight him in Ireland. I want to fight. He elaborated, “I know it’s not going to happen in Ireland, but that’s my dream to go over there and be in that sort of chaos. That’s what f**king wakes me up every day. I’m going out there, I’ll stand and knock him out.”

Later, he admitted that everything he does is an attempt to draw ‘Notorious’ out. “I’m trying reverse psychology, I’m trying to be his friend. I’m trying every f**king route that there is to draw this man out.”

Last October, ‘The Highlight’ said, “I believe he is scared to fight the fight he has to fight against me. I think he’s looking for a shoo-in.”

A McGregor-Gaethje face-off? Not now.

Earlier this year, after the Irish fighter returned at UFC 246, ‘The Highlight’ hinted at ‘Notorious’ only taking easy fights. “What the f**k you gotta do. He’s running out of easy fights. I’m sitting here waiting for (expletive) to punch me in the face. Let’s go.”

However, a fight between the two will currently not be possible. This is because the Interim Lightweight Champion earned the opportunity to challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov. The unification bout will be held anytime after July, with September looking the most likely date.

Based on Justin Gaethje’s tweet, do you think Conor McGregor is losing his clout? Or has he already lost it and is just trying to stay relevant?
