Deiveson Figueiredo isn’t too pleased with Cody Garbrandt jumping the line and competing for the title in his flyweight debut. However, the UFC booked the fight, and ‘Deus da Guerra’ must be ready for whatever challenges the former bantamweight poses.
The flyweight champion revealed his plan for their fight in November.
In an Instagram post, he appeared to be training, but took time to send a chilling message to ‘No Love’. He said, “Hey Cody motherf**k, Imma go take your head off. Motherf**k.”

Predictably he is going for a knockout which keeps with his all-out attack philosophy. Figueiredo claimed 9 T/KO wins in his career and seemed well on his way to double digits in his previous fight.
Ahead of his Fight Island clash, he promised to submit Joseph Benavidez to hand him a first submission defeat. He did just so and displayed ferocious attacking intent to unsettle Benavidez and take the fight to the ground.
Deiveson Figueiredo will look to solidify his authority in the division
Deiveson Figueiredo needs a few successful title defenses to be mentioned in the same breath as the previous flyweight champions Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo. In addition, he needs to retain his belt until 2021 to convince Dana White that he deserves a bantamweight title shot.
Given his newfound confidence and knack for delivering on his promises, he is aiming for a series of emphatic wins to achieve this goal. Fans should be ready for a finish as ‘No Love’ will undoubtedly be looking for a KO.

Figueiredo will continue to prepare for his title defense whilst Garbrandt’s plans have hit a snag. The fighter contracted the Coronavirus and will not train for a few days. However, he should make a full recovery in time to have a full training camp and be at his best against the champion.
