As the whole world rushes towards confinement in light of the devastating coronavirus, “Gamebred” Jorge Masvidal shared with BT Sports what he is doing to escape the virus.

“It’s still alarming me to me man. I do research on it. And I hear [that] if you catch it, it could take up [a] certain lung capacity from you, you know if you had it to a certain extent. So, just as an athlete, I’m extra paranoid not to go out [or] not to go anywhere.”

Masvidal is taking the threat that the pandemic poses with utmost seriousness. And, of course, what he said about an athlete’s health is spot-on.

The virus is said to deteriorate a person’s breathability to a bare minimum. Now, while it is not confirmed whether those effects continue in some form even after cure, the amount of energy it drains from a person over the course of its stay in the body is enormous. Jorge Masvidal keeping his workout largely indoors

Carrying on with the interview, Masvidal said, “I do most of my work out, too. What I do outside is just run [on] the street. I’m a big sissy, man. I’m at home, as you see. And I’ll be home. Actually, some of my friends make fun of me. Because I’m more of the radical one, you know. F*ck it. If I can train at home, why risk going out?”

An important lesson from Gamebred here. No one is immune to the coronavirus. Thus, the real heroism is in staying indoors and keeping everyone safe.

Masvidal is, nevertheless, carrying on with training. Much like most other fighters of the sport, who keep sharing workout videos from time-to-time.

Because of course, when one can train at home and be safe, why risk going out?
