UFC fighter Daniel Cormier has given a little insight into his tactics ahead of his rematch against Stipe Miocic. Cormier revealed he’ll use a similar tactic Curtis Blaydes used against Alexander Volkov
Blaydes took the fight to the ground, with multiple takedowns during the fight. Although he was criticized for doing so, he dominated and ‘rag-dolled’ Volkov
Cormier is known for his exceptional wrestling coupled with clean kickboxing. During the rematch, Miocic dominated on the feet and used plenty of liver shots to slow down Cormier.

However, now that Cormier knows what to expect, taking the fight to the ground might be the smartest thing to do.

“ I love fighting in the small cage at the APEX. That old leg is gonna be right in front of me to grab. I’ll be like Curtis Blaydes.
If you want to see a 25-minute stand-up fight, that’s not what you’re getting.
I hope Stipe has his wrestling shoes, because with the small cage, single-leg, single-leg, single-leg, single-leg, wrestling. It is what it is. Sorry”. Said Cormier on his show with Ariel Helwani.
Blaydes had revealed a very similar tactic before his fight against Alexander. Blaydes faced a lot of criticism as his fight was considered extremely boring.

UFC president Dana White also called out Blaydes for using this technique, however, it proved extremely successful for him.
Cormier is set to retire after his bout against Stipe Miocic. This is Cormier’s biggest fight of his career given what’s at stake.
With Cormier, itching to retire at the very top of the sport, fans around the world are hoping to see Daniel raise the gold belt once again.
