After snapping a three-win fight streak, Hooker is forced back to the drawing board to access his options. In the shark tank-like 155-pound division, reaching the pinnacle of a division is easier said than done. Not to mention the presence of ‘The Notorious One’ Conor McGregor adds an additional variable into the equation.

Dan Hooker looks ahead

Dan Hooker spoke out and gave an overview of his options to ascend back to the top. It remains clear that Hooker is ready to wade through deep waters to reclaim his position.

“I’ve got my eyes on who I want to fight next, and I think it’s either gonna be Tony or it’s gonna be Oliveira. I think either one of those fights is another main event. But then, Oliveira, he’s getting carried away calling out Poirier and calling out Conor (McGregor), and he’s beating around the bush, trying to say anyone except me or Tony”.

As the current rankings stand, Ferguson and Oliveira rank numbers 3 and 6 respectively. Based on the numerals, Dan Hooker may very well line up against Charles Oliveira.

“He’s a funny guy. But yeah, I’ll have to wait and see, because obviously Tony makes way more sense for me. But if I have to go back and then solidify my place in the top five, I’m happy to do that. I just want to fight and I want to fight before the end of the year, and either of those two names makes sense for me”.

The 155-pound division has once again claimed its stake at being the most stacked division in the UFC today. It appears that Dan Hooker is more than willing to walk through the gauntlet of elite talent to reassert himself into the title picture.
