Carlos Condit is not the force that he once was in the welterweight division and is on a five-fight losing skid. However, the former interim champion believes he isn’t past his prime and can still make a run at welterweight gold.
‘The Natural Born Killer’ will face fellow veteran Court McGee this weekend on UFC Fight Island 4. His last win came against Thiago Alves back in 2015. Consequently, fans are expecting a sense of urgency on his part. However, Condit isn’t really taking this as a do-or-die situation.

“I think it’s must-win in the sense that if I lose, it’s going to hurt really bad and suck,” Condit said while talking to MMA Fighting during the media day. “I’m not really attached to ‘oh this is a doomsday scenario for my career.’ I think that’s putting too much pressure on things that I can’t control.”
‘The Natural Born Killer’ also revealed that there were a lot of things going on in his life. Despite dropping five fights in a row, Condit still believes he had his moments. However, things just didn’t fall in place.
Carlos Condit opens up on what is the motivation for him to continue fighting
The losing skid for Condit began with his all-time classic welterweight scrap against Robbie Lawler that he lost via a split decision. And if the losses weren’t enough, he suffered a torn retina in December 2019, thus setting him back several months.
Regardless, fans would love to watch the Carlos Condit that they loved and cheered for. A far as ‘The Natural Born Killer’ is concerned, the reason that got him into fighting in the first place is what still drives him to train harder for his fights and show up prepared in the octagon.

“I don’t think that I’m past my prime. I’ve had a skid, but I feel like I can turn it around and make a run for sure.”

While Condit would love to get back in the win column, there would be the added incentive for him of finishing his opponent. McGee one has just one stoppage loss on his resume while Condit boasts of twenty finishes.
