UFC 249 hit a terrible roadblock this evening as one of the fighters on the card tested positive for coronavirus. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza was looking forward to locking horns with Uriah Hall this Saturday. However, he informed the UFC upon his arrival that one of his family members might have tested positive for the COVID-19. The UFC immediately administered the nose-swab test and placed Souza in isolation.
Unfortunately, his test results came back positive. The UFC also revealed later that two of Souza’s cornermen also tested positive for the virus.
The news came as a devastating blow for Uriah Hall. “Prime Time” actually started living in the gym in preparation for UFC 249. However, after taking his time to absorb the news, Uriah reached out to Ronaldo to wish him the best.

The UFC released an official statement regarding the latest developments.
In the statement, the UFC clarified that Souza and two of his cornermen tested positive for the coronavirus. As per the safety protocols, those who tested positive will now leave the hotel and isolate off-premises. A team of professionals will cater to all the needs of those infected.
Moreover, the UFC also clarified that all those who tested positive for the coronavirus were practicing social-distancing and wearing PPE. This was evident when Souza showed up for the face-offs with a mask and stood at a considerable distance from Uriah Hall.
