Herb Dean might have just have made some new haters after his recent decision at UFC Fight Night 174. The lightweight-turned-catchweight bout between Francisco Trinaldo and Jai Herbet concluded with the former notching a vicious KO victory. However, the fight paved the way to several debates, including the role of referees in a fight. Several MMA fans have already voiced their opinion regarding it. MMA analyst and former contender Dan Hardy was another recent addition.
Immediately after the fight, Dan Hardy was spotted having a word with the referee in charge, Herb Dean. Moreover, the former appeared vexed. ‘The Outlaw’ felt that the fight was over long before Herb stopped it.

In the third round of the contest, Francisco landed a massive jab that made Herbert hit the canvas. Although the fight appeared to be over, Herb Dean did not end it. Thus, Francis followed it with four more hits to claim the win.
While it appeared to be a sensational win, Herb Dean’s call has already triggered a lot of anger amongst the MMA community. A lot of people claimed that the fighter’s safety relies on a referee and accused Herb of potentially endangering their lives.
That said, Dan Hardy’s frustration over Herb Dean has also garnered a lot of attention. UFC commentator Jon Anik is impressed with Hardy for his action and praised the former contender via social media. However, Anik has received mixed reactions over his tweet where many cited the support towards Dan Hardy.
Jon Anik praises Dan Hardy for voicing frustration over Herb Dean
Dan Hardy has always had my respect as one of the best MMA minds/analysts out there but he’s especially deserving of praise tonight. Analysts must be critical when they believe the situation calls for it. Can’t hold back. He didn’t. He’s not trying to make friends.

Jon took to Twitter, paving his respect towards the UFC analyst for voicing his frustration towards Dean’s late call. “Analysts must be critical when they believe the situation calls for it. Can’t hold back. He didn’t. He’s not trying to make friends,” wrote Jon Anik on Twitter. Yet, not everyone agrees with Anik.
Twitter backs up Herb Dean’s call
One of the netizens claimed that it was a tough call for Herb Dean and accused Dan Hardy of being a biased analyst.
Yea Jon, don't say anything about how incredibly biased he was throughout the fight tho, smart. It was a tough stoppage but if Herbert would of popped right back up then Dan would of been yelling "HE'S FINE WHY DID YOU STOP THE FIGHT?!?!" Ref's have a hard enough job.

Herb Dean, the man himself, took to Twitter and thanked Jon Anik for his kind words.
Thank you, my friend. 🙏🏼

Meanwhile, another user questioned Jon Anik’s role. “Do you feel the same applies for your position as well?”
