Jon “Bones” Jones has been hinting a shift to the Heavyweight division for quite some time now. He aims to claim heavyweight gold, with his eyes set at UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic.
Of course, a fighter with a stature as incredible as Jones will also cause a lot of hustle-bustle in any division he moves into. Talking on the same lines, Francis Ngannou appeared in an interview with Submission Radio.

On being asked how well can Jones do in heavyweight according to him, Ngannou replied, “I think Jon Jones could do well wherever he goes, wherever he [wants] to be. There is no doubt about it. If you look skill-wise, fighting experience, everything. There is no doubt that he could do well everywhere.”
It is not very common for a fighter to hold so much respect amongst other fighters. And this is not just Francis Ngannou. Jones is an icon in the world of MMA and commands the respect of almost every fighter out there. He has earned it through sheer dedication and hard work.
The two-time undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion since December 2018, Jones ranks #1 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings and was recently inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame.

Carrying on with the interview, Francis was asked whether he would consider Jones a challenge. He replied,
“Yes! Jon Jones is a challenge for everyone. Obviously, I would put myself as the winner. But, if you don’t take Jon Jones as a challenge, you’re crazy, a little bit. I mean, this guy has been around and has been beating people up, being [the] champ. He has been through all types of fights [for] years and years. And today, [he’s at] the top position.”
This was yet another testament to Jones’ credibility as a fighter. The blatant acceptance expressed by Ngannou regarding the challenge that Jones would pose is something one can only earn by proving his mettle time and again.

However, Francis is not really anticipating Jones’ jump to heavyweight. While he did say that Jones would provide a challenge, he is not thinking about a fight with him in the least.
Do you think Jones’ jump to the heavyweight is inbound in the near future?
