Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov is probably the biggest fight that UFC fans will ever witness. Owing to its significance, it has been the talk of the town for the UFC Universe ever since it was announced.

There are a lot of predictions going around about who will win because the fight will informally be a declaration of the greatest Lightweight ever. Following the trend, Ariel Helwani sought UFC Lightweight #10 Kevin Lee‘s views on the same.

In an interview, Ariel asked Kevin who his pick was. Kevin replied, “You know what? I was really going with Khabib winning. Especially after seeing how he looked versus Dustin Poirier. But, now with all this lockdown stuff, I’m leaning back towards Tony-winning. Tony has been training like this for years. And I don’t think it [lockdown] is really gonna affect him at all. He [has] always been doing sh*t like this! Going up to Big Bear. Bringing his own people around. And Khabib is somebody [who] has always got twenty people around him. That’s over the limit right there!”

The coronavirus has caused a lockdown in most every part of the world. Thus, as Kevin mentioned, training regimes have been gravely affected. Most fighters train in gyms without other people or sparring partners surrounding them.

All but El Cucuy. He prefers to train in isolation with minimum people around him. He even said that this fight is the first one in many years for which he has got a sparring partner.

However, as ‘The Motown Phenom’ correctly guessed, Khabib has not had it easy in these trying times. His training regime differs a lot from that of Tony’s, and hence it has been difficult for him to train in peace.

How has the Coronavirus impacted Khabib Nurmagomedov and his training regime?

For starters, Khabib’s gym, AKA fitness, shut down because of of the rapidly growing number of COVID-19 cases in the USA.

Thus, he was the only guy training there, that too with minimal people. While he himself suggested the idea of least possible human presence, it just does not suit his style of training.

Moreover, he then flew back to Russia amidst the rising chaos. While he might just find a better training environment back in Dagestan, this will disrupt The Eagle‘s usual routine.

Also, it will be tough for Dana White to figure out how to get Khabib to wherever UFC 249 will take place, as Russia has now put major restrictions on air traffic. Following this and Kevin Lee’s analysis, the fight week will be an extremely difficult time for the Champion.
