The news about the cancellation of UFC 249 came out of nowhere. But coincidentally, several people were on camera when the news broke. UFC commentator Joe Rogan was one of them as well.
Joe Rogan was in the middle of his podcast with Brendan Schaub when the news came out. Initially, Rogan left out a sigh of relief. This was because he wasn’t a hundred per cent sure if he wanted to attend the event. In his own words, he was more like seventy-five per cent sure that he was going to lend his voice on April 18th.
However, that doesn’t mean he was against holding the event altogether. In fact, he heaped praises on Dana White for being relentless. Joe Rogan added that if all the right precautions were in place, then it would be absolutely fine to hold the event.

What bothered Rogan more is the shroud of uncertainty that clouds the virus. He feels everything will be better off once they figure out what the virus actually is.
“If this was like any other disease where we understood it better, I would be way more confident.,” said Joe Rogan on his podcast.
He then made a reference to comedian and his friend Michael Yo being infected with the virus. Rogan’s logic was clear. If a fit individual such as Yo can contract the virus, then it makes it equally likely for others to get infected as well.
“We gotta figure out what the f**k this virus is and how is it treated, what’s the most effective way. Then it makes that we’re a little bit more loose with our regulations”
Joe Rogan believes UFC can make a lot of money if they move to the island
The major reason behind UFC 249’s cancellation is believed to be the intervention by a Senator. However, that still doesn’t affect Dana’s plans for the fight island which he, supposedly, has booked for months.
After the failure of the Tachi Palace plan, the island is the next big hope for Dana and the UFC. However, there would be substantial investments involved in making such an arrangement.

“How much money is the UFC going to be spending on these private jets….,” said Brendan Schaub before being interrupted by Rogan.

“Think of all the money that they are going to make with the reality show about moving the UFC to the island,” said Joe Rogan. “Cause I’m watching that shit. F*** Tiger King. I’m gonna watch Dana White screaming and trying to figure out how to put up a fight on an island.”
Joe was also hopeful that the worst is behind us. However, his comments about figuring out about the virus are what lies at the very core of this global pandemic. If medical practitioners can figure it out, then the solution to the problem will be in our hands.
