As Jon Jones confirmed his move up to the Heavyweight, his last rival at the Light Heavyweight division, Dominick Reyes, wished him luck on Twitter.

“Hey [Jon Jones], thank you for the experience man. I wish you the best of luck [on] your journey. I know things got a [little] crazy, but I just wanted to be pushed beyond my [perceived] limits by the LHW GOAT again. God bless and God willing we get to dance under those lights again.”

Dominick Reyes hands out peace offering to Jon Jones

Reyes perhaps became the toughest challenge that ‘Bones‘ faced in defending his throne. They met in February 2020 in an absolute dogfight that lasted the entirety of five rounds.

Even though ‘The Dominator’ was very vocal about the supposed robbery of his victory in the controversial decision victory for Jones, he was aching for a rematch to settle the score. Furthermore, most media houses and the President of the UFC, Dana White himself, were in favor of the rematch.

After all, giving the arguable GOAT a true run for his money is something that rarely ever happened. Whether it be striking or Octagon control, Reyes went toe-to-toe with Jones, making the decision a tough ordeal.

Of course, his demands for a rematch were fueled with ambition and desire for greatness and accomplishment.

However, as Jones moves up, Reyes holds no hostility towards a fellow fighter. His gesture is a true display of the sportsman spirit, which is revered by athletes across the world.

This is why, in the end, MMA is all about unfathomable respect. Nevertheless, Reyes did leave a side-note saying that he will always be ready for the rematch, whenever Jones feels like it!
