While it may not be very evident to a fan watching UFC fights, but every PPV event of the past eleven years has a connection with legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen. UFC supremo Dana White took to Twitter and revealed how his love for one of Van Halen’s creation has been intertwined with UFC PPVs.

The UFC President hired Albert Lineses III as the official DJ of the UFC in 2009. His tenure with the promotion till now has been highly successful. Along with Dana, former UFC chairman, Lorenzo Fertitta also had only good things to say about Lineses.

When Dana hired Albert, he made it clear that he was a fan of Van Halen’s Intruder. Moreover, he wanted a way to include it in every UFC PPV. Lineses obliged and since then the song has opened the PPV portion of the shows for the past eleven years.

Dana White shared this information following the passing of Van Halen a few days back, amidst the huge influx of tributes for the co-founder of Van Halen.

Fans may expect an increased presence of Van Halen’s creations in tonight’s UFC event

The UFC is in the midst of its second run on Fight Island. This time the proceedings opened with UFC 253 headlined by a fight between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa. This was followed by UFC on Fight Island 4. The historic event saw women headlining a UFC event for the first time in Abu Dhabi.

Continuing with its slew of entertaining cards on every weekend, UFC on Fight Island 5 will look to give the audience their dose of the weekly action. A bantamweight contest between Cory Sandhagen and Marlon Moraes will headline the card.

Considering the passing away of Eddie Van Halen, Lineses is likely to give a tribute to the revolutionary figure of the music industry in tonight’s event.

The UFC’s run on Fight Island will end on a high note with UFC 254. The event features a deep main event card along with a massive headliner. Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will go up against the human highlight reel and interim champ Justin Gaethje.
