Chuck Liddell kickstarted his career in the UFC in 1998. He is among the few fighters who are credited to have popularised the sport of MMA and the UFC itself.
The UFC Hall of Famer last stepped into the octagon back in November 2014. Liddell took on Tito Ortiz for the third time. The results were not favorable for the MMA legend as Ortiz took the win via knockout.
Following his loss to Ortiz, the Iceman was rather non-committal to his future in the UFC, however, considering his absence one tends to think that the star hung up his gloves for good.
Many argue that Liddell lost his touch following the loss of his title. Quinton Jackson took the load of the title off of Liddell’s shoulders back in 2007.
Since then the American only saw losses down to his last fight. Throughout his 3 year “slump” Liddell stepped inside the octagon five times. However, only one of those fights ended up with Liddell walking out of the cage with a win. The fight was against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 79.
Chuck Liddell Inspired Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor has never hidden the fact that Liddell was one of the biggest sources of inspiration for him. And it seems like the feeling is quite mutual.

The Irishman holds the top spot in Liddell’s list of favorite fighters of this generation.
“It’s an honor for me to inspire a star, like Conor. He is a badass. One thing I most like about Conor is he ‘walks the walk.’ The fact that he even gave me credit for inspiring him really makes things come full circle for me in this sport. living the dream!”- Chuck Liddell
