McGregor’s last fight was against Donald “Cowboy “Cerrone at welterweight. However, Dan Hardy believes that McGregor’s fight against Gaethje will take place at lightweight. Since McGregor looked bigger than usual in his last fight, it would be interesting to see him cut the weight.

He also pointed out the fact that McGregor has struggled with wrestlers in the past. Besides Khabib, McGregor has faced some adversity against Chad Mendes.

Gaethje who also has a good wrestling game barely utilizes it. Along with the wrestling he carries knockout power throughout the fight. If Gaethje decides to put McGregor against the fence, it can be problematic for the Irishman.

On the other hand, a fighting style like Gaethje’s favors McGregor more as he is excellent at managing distance. Gaethje moves forward constantly which makes him vulnerable to McGregor’s counters, especially his powerful left hand.

Hardy said, “Conor’s got the knockout power to put anybody in this (lightweight) division down and welterweight as well if he lands clean”
