Most people in the world believe that talk is cheap. However, Colby Covington may defer after the recent developments. The former interim champ has often been the focal point of media attention due to his bold and controversial statements. It seems that his strategy of trash-talking may have just backfired.
Covington’s name has been removed from the list of fighters on the website of the American Top Team. ATT is the gym where Covington has been training for a long time. As of late, “Chaos” had been openly beefing with some of his stablemates. That included his rift with fellow Welterweight Jorge Masvidal and former UFC champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Apart from the removal of his name from the website, ATT hasn’t released an official statement. However, in the world of MMA, such a step is pretty concrete evidence. For instance, Henry Cejudo had announced his retirement earlier this month at UFC 249. However, his champ’s status on the UFC website was revoked yesterday, closing all the doors on his return.

If Covington faces a similar fate with his gym, then he will only have himself to blame. The top brass at ATT had already taken note of Covington’s action and even taken major steps.

ATT owner, Dan Lambert, had imposed a new rule to curb the trash-talk of Colby Covington
According to Dan Lambert, Covington’s trash-talking was affecting the coaches as well as his training partners. It was not good for the vibe around the gym. Consequently, he had put in place the ‘Colby Covington Rule‘. It prohibited intra-gym trash talk among fighters.
After the rule was put in place, it seemed as if Covington had taken a step back. He even apologized to Dustin Poirier. However, it didn’t take long for Colby to get back to his old ways soon after. Since then, he has already insulted Joanna a number of times.

If the speculation about Covington and ATT is true, then the former interim champ will have to find a new home to train. There are obviously the Blackzillians in Florida. However, it is the same place where the current Welterweight kingpin Kamaru Usman trains. That will surely be a deal-breaker for the aspiring champ Colby.
If ATT has severed ties with Covington, where do you think Colby should head to?
