It has been more than a year since we saw the Notorious One competing inside the UFC octagon. The former two-division champion, Conor McGregor fought Khabib Nurmagomedov in his last fight back in October 2018. Since there have been a lot of speculations surrounding the return of Conor McGregor.
Initially, McGregor campaigned for an immediate rematch against the reigning lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, Nurmagomedov fairly dominated the former champion in the first fight, eliminating any chances of an immediate rematch. However, there are still several great matchups for the much-awaited UFC return of Conor McGregor.
The rematch with the former interim champion, Dustin Poirier certainly makes sense. Even a fight with Justin Gaethje who is a strong contender for the title makes sense for McGregor. However, it seems the Notorious One has his eyes set on an opponent from the featherweight division. Conor McGregor recently confirmed that he is going to make his UFC return against Frankie Edgar.

Frankie Edgar has been campaigning for a fight with Conor McGregor for a meaningful period now. He has even offered to fight McGregor at any weight division. However, he believed that UFC did not want to make that fight since either they won’t be able to see the fight or they don’t want McGregor to lose again.
It’s not official yet who McGregor is going to fight next for his UFC return, but it seems McGregor himself is leaning towards the fight against Frankie Edgar. However, few moments after the tweet, McGregor deleted the tweet keeping the fans guessing whether he indeed is going to fight Edgar in December.
