Health issues bring even the fiercest of rivals together. And it seems like Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov falling into a coma has done the same for Khabib and his long-time rival, Conor McGregor.

The Irishman took to Twitter in an attempt to wish his arch-nemesis’ father a speedy recovery. McGregor adds that he will be keeping the Nurmagomedov family in his prayers.

Nurmagomedov’s medical staff placed the UFC lightweight champion’s father in a coma. The 57-year-old coach suffered a series of complications following his recovery from Pneumonia. And reportedly is in critical condition.

Social media flooded with messages of support and well wishes for the Nurmagomedov family. However, none were more surprising than that coming from the Dubliner. Considering his rather crushing defeat to the Russian back in 2018 and how the two have had a strained relationship ever since.

“Praying for the recovery of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. A man responsible for more World champions, across multiple fighting disciplines, than we even know. A true martial genius! Very saddened upon hearing this news tonight. Praying for the Nurmagomedov family at this time” said Conor McGregor in his message to the Nurmagomedov family.

Conor McGregor adjusts his stance on Khabib

This statement from McGregor comes just days after he blasted Khabib for being a “scurrying, hiding rat”. In addition, the Irishman feels that Khabib will “bottle” out of his title defense against the freshly minted interim UFC lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje.

However, following his most recent update on social media, it seems like The Notorious One has drawn a clear line between business and personal.
