Dwayne Johnson got off his WrestleMania event last month, but he did not have any plans of taking a break. He immediately started training and preparing for his next movie, which is going to be a biopic on UFC legend Mark Kerr. The Rock often talks about his difficult training regime on his official social media accounts and expresses his gratitude to various UFC stars for helping him with the role. However, fans still did not know how he would look as the heavyweight champion. The wait is finally over as Johnson’s first look was finally released and he looks completely unrecognizable as Mar Kerr in ‘The Smashing Machine’.

Johnson took to his official Instagram handle to release the first look with the caption, “First look at Benny Safdie’s THE SMASHING MACHINE starring @therock and Emily Blunt.” Though the post quickly went viral on social media, the actor and WWE champ looked completely unrecognizable in the initial pictures released of the A24 drama ‘The Smashing Machine.’ This biopic is being directed by Benny Safdie and it co-stars his ‘Jungle Cruise’ co-star Emily Blunt. The film is about Mark Kerr who struggled with addiction while also becoming an icon for combat sports. 

Johnson, who recently trained with Mark Kerr, looks ripped and strong as Mark Kerr in the first look and he also appears to be sporting some facial prosthetics to help him look more authentic as the fighter. He also had a wig and hairstyle similar to the two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion. However, the pictures did not receive a good reception from the fans, as they found it hard to believe that it was none other than The Rock. 

Fans come up with hilarious reactions as The Rock looks unrecognizable 

Most of the comments under Haymakers’ post discussed how The Rock was back, and he looked completely different. While some liked it, some fans did not. One fan commented on the post, “That’s the rock?”, while another compared him to Chael Sonnen maybe because of his new hairstyle, and said, “Glance I thought that was the one and only Chael Sonnen.” Johnson had previously spoken on Instagram about how he was glad to be doing this role and what it meant to him and he wanted to pay this tribute to all UFC fighters.

One fan spoke about The Rock’s acting prowess and wrote, “he looks unrecognizable. this might mean he’s going to go all out and show his acting chops.” Another follower also made a similar comment about The Rock looking like a muscular ‘juiced up’ Sonnen, stating, “I thought that was a juiced-up Chael.” 

One netizen sarcastically spoke about his acting and wrote, “Why does it look like he’s gonna be acting in this one.” Another fan was impressed and said, “Dwayne looks different, bro’s finally gonna act.” Meanwhile, one follower was astonished to see Johnson with hair and said, “The Rock … with hair.”
