Ronda Rousey published yet another book. But this time around, it’s not an autobiography, but a romantic comedy graphic novel packed with action scenes and dialogues about motherhood. The name is quite fitting- ‘Expecting The Unexpected’. When fans got to know about her book, they had a rather bizarre reaction. They thought she was going broke! But that’s not true. The book is yet another milestone in her creative journey.
After ‘Rowdy’ announced the release of her new book, she even took to Instagram and advertised an opportunity for the fight fans to take on private lessons from her and her husband, Travis Browne. The millionaire with a net worth of $14 million has been advertising the graphic novel like nothing else. She talked about the book at San Diego ComicCon, on July 26. Needless to say, the world of literature and comic books is pretty excited about it.
In a promotional video released on YouTube on July 28, ‘Rowdy’ revealed the real motivation behind writing the graphic novel, clearing all the rumors that claimed her bank balance was going down. “Nobody asked me to, but I wrote a graphic novel,” she stated.

“I wrote this while I was trying to get pregnant. There are very few stories out there that examine the journey that a woman goes through from when she finds out she’s pregnant, to when she decides whether or not she can be a mom. It’s very much me and my husband in there, which is why our likenesses are being drawn into the book itself. And in trying to write a role for myself that no one else could play better than me, I unexpectedly wrote something that no one could have written other than me.”
Well, there it is! Who could have come up with a plot like that except Rousey? But there’s something even more interesting. For those who don’t know, Ronda Rousey announced that she is expecting her second baby with her husband Browne. As per her Instagram post, they are expecting another daughter. Rousey and Browne are already proud parents to La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō.
But what about Rousey’s financial situation? Is there any truth to it?
Why did fight fans suspect ‘Rowdy’ was going through money problems?

On the same day as the promotional video was released, Rousey took to social media and wrote, “Get a private mma lesson from me and @travisbrownemma – limited to 10 people!” She promised to teach her infamous armbar, while Browne would teach his elbow shots against the fence. After all, a private session with a Hall of Famer and a former UFC and Strikeforce champion was indeed something that many just dream of. However, fans had a different way of looking at it.
At the peak of her UFC career, Rousey defended her bantamweight title six times, and all of those via stoppage, but then Holly Holm dethroned the queen. Unfortunately, it went only downhill from there. A year later, Rousey took a chance against Amanda Nunes, but that ended with an upset, and thereafter, the fighter left the promotion.
Since then, Rousey joined WWE and walked away from MMA. Hence, this announcement about private MMA lessons took people by surprise and fans began speculating about money problems! “They must be coming short on money”, and “Need that money” are just a couple of many comments that the HoFer received on her Instagram post. But in reality, this was just a way of her promoting the new book.

Rowdy had previously opened up about her decision to walk out of MMA. “Just from that one fight, everybody felt like, ‘Oh she’s a fraud.’ I know that like I’m the greatest fighter that has ever lived, but when it got to a point that I had taken so much neurological damage that I couldn’t take it anymore, suddenly everything I had accomplished meant nothing.”
So it seems Ronda Rousey once again switched her career. And this time, she is making waves in the publishing world! What do you think?
