Undoubtedly, Conor McGregor is the biggest star of the UFC. The Irishman has not only achieved great success in the cage, but has also boosted MMA’s popularity to a whole new level. From being the first double champ, to being part of the highest-selling UFC PPV, McGregor has seen it all and done it all.

However, ‘The Notorious’ has been inactive in the UFC since 2021, after a horrific leg break. For months now, fans have been expecting the Irishman to announce his return. But there have been no official updates about it. According to the recent rumors, McGregor can make a comeback at UFC 300. The Irishman has also entered the USADA testing pool and is actively training.

But at the same time, there is no official statement regarding this. Initially, the Dublin-born was going to return to the octagon in the middle of 2023. However, his return has been filled with constant delays and unexpected hurdles. In case Conor McGregor does not return at UFC 300, Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey could be the UFC’s best bets to pull off a grand event.

Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar – a huge part of UFC’s history

Back in the day, MMA was primarily a male-dominated industry. However, there is one name that changed it – Ronda Rousey. Ever since the beginning of her MMA career, ‘Rowdy’ was a dominant fighter in the octagon. After an impressive win streak, the American MMA fighter joined the UFC in 2013.

Next, she rose to the ranks of fame and success, as the former WWE star captured the UFC women’s bantamweight title. With 6 defenses to her name, Rousey still holds the record for most title defenses in the UFC women’s bantamweight division. UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm and UFC 207: Rousey vs. Nunes, both did over a million PPV buys. This is something that no other female UFC superstar has been able to replicate.

Talking about Brock Lesnar, the former WWE champ had a relatively shorter career in the UFC. However, his star power was unmatched! In his third UFC fight at UFC 81, Lesnar faced and defeated Randy Couture to win the UFC heavyweight title. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ defended the title twice. UFC 100, UFC 116, and UFC 121, all three PPVs, headlined by Lesnar, crossed 1 million PPV buys. Also, the former champ fought at UFC 100 and 200, therefore, fans would love to see him back at UFC 300!

Alexander Volkanovski, Sean O’Malley, Islam Makhachev: No big stars available for UFC 300

Recently, UFC CEO Dana White announced some electrifying fights for UFC 297, UFC 298, and UFC 299. However, he did not mention anything about UFC 300. At UFC 297, middleweight champ Sean Strickland will face Dricus Du Plessis. At UFC 298, featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski will face Ilia Topuria. Moreover, UFC’s rising star and bantamweight champ Sean O’Malley will defend his title against Marlon Vera at UFC 299.
