Ronda Rousey was someone who always wanted to be the best. She was ready to take any challenge and any opponent to win. While she won a lot of fights and won a lot of championships and medals, there were some battles that ‘Rowdy’ lost. She was strong emotionally and generally shrugged off failure to move on and do better. Sometimes, however, just like any other mortal being Rousey felt torn and lost. In her memoir, My Fight/Your Fight, Ronda Rousey mentioned the time when a loss in the championship Finals broke her.

Ronda Rousey’s worst career loss may be her knock-out against Holly Holm, but, according to Rousey, it was this particular loss that was the most difficult for her to deal with. The loss left her crying alone in an arena with nobody around to calm her down or console her.

Ronda Rousey left shattered after only managing a silver

Despite having experiences from many tournaments, there was a time Rousey couldn’t control her emotions when she lost to Gevrise Emane from France in the Judo World Championship finals. Remembering her reaction to the loss Rousey Wrote, After the competition had ended for the day, I walked up into the stands where the crowd had been cheering for me so loudly hours before. I had to call my mom back home, but I couldn’t do it yet. Making that call would require finding the strength to say: I lost. My gut twisted. I climbed to the very top of the seats.

She further added how she cried her heart out after failing to gather enough courage to call her mother. She added, “The arena was nearly empty. I settled myself at the end of a row of seats, up against a corner, pulled my knees up to my chest, and cried harder than I ever had since Dad died.”

Ronda Rousey remained not so good with losses throughout her career. When she lost to Holly Holm, she admitted she was embarrassed to have performed the way she did in the cage. Such was the magnitude of that loss that Ronda Rousey moved to an Australian ranch away from all the action. Rousey in her own admission said, that the initial strikes she took in that fight dumbed her down a bit and affected her decision-making.
