Month’s Before Dwayne Johnson’s Favor, Jorge Masvidal Gave a Major Benefit of Not Using Steroids

The discussion of performance-enhancing substances taken by athletes is a long one. The discussion certainly had some significant moments. UFC star Jorge Masvidal also shared his views on athletes taking PEDs and how they would affect their overall career and health. One of the interviews that Masvidal gave before the BMF title fight and The Rock joining the event is a notable one. In fact, he had wrapped the BMF belt around Masvidal’s waist.

Jorge Masvidal has fought a total of 51 professional MMA fights. There are not many fighters who have had more fights than ‘Gamebred’.

Jorge Masvidal on avoiding PEDs

Masvidal has always been a stern advocate of not using any performance-enhancing medications. Back in 2019, during an interview before the fight with Nate Diaz, Masvidal was of the opinion that he and Nate Diaz have long careers since they did not take any banned substances.

“Like Nate, I’ve never used steroids,” Gamebred said. “I don’t think that dude has either. I don’t live with him, so I don’t know. But his body hasn’t really changed. He gets in better shape. Some fights, maybe he didn’t take it as seriously and wasn’t in crazy shape.

“But I don’t think he’s ever done steroids. I’ve never done steroids. That might be a big thing toward the longevity.” Masvidal continued. Masvidal later won the fight against Nate Diaz via TKO (Doctor’s Stoppage).

Thus, the fighter attributed his long career to clean fighting.

Can The Rock learn from Jorge Masvidal?

Leading up to the BMF Title fight between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244, The Rock was actively seen promoting the fight. He has also recently been in the news owing to a controversial statement from Joe Rogan regarding his physique.

Rogan was of the opinion that Dwayne Johnson too was on substances for maintaining his massive physique.

The Rock could have taken a page out of Masvidal’s book regarding the use of steroids. Joe Rogan’s comment about Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson using steroids has been controversial.
