Before Nate Diaz’s fight at UFC 279, he slammed the promotion’s shoe deal with Dwayne Johnson’s company. Every fighter had to wear the shoes. However, Nate Diaz refused to do so and preferred wearing the Jordan Brand x Travis Scott sneakers. When the ‘Complex’ host asked Dana White regarding the reason behind it, the 53-year-old promoter claimed that Diaz’s anger stemmed from the fact that ‘The Rock’ supported Jorge Masvidal in their BMF title bout.

White said, “He [Nate Diaz] was pissed off at the Rock. That’s why he said that.” He added, “He was mad the Rock was rooting for, I think, Masvidal. So that’s what that was about.”

Dana White also mentioned that the UFC shoe deal is related to the fighters, not him. Moreover, it is mandatory for them to wear those shoes because of the deal they have with Johnson’s company. “Right now, the fighter shoe, it’s the fighters, not me. I don’t have a shoe deal. The fighters have a deal with The Rock,” stated the 53-year-old promoter. He added, “They gotta come into The Rock. They have full outfitting kit.” Apart from blasting ‘The Rock’s shoes, Nate Diaz even challenged the Hollywood A-lister to a fight.

Nate Diaz wanted to beat up ‘The Rock’

During the post-fight press conference at UFC 244, Nate Diaz revealed that he would not mind getting into a fight with Dwayne Johnson. It was because the ‘Shazam’ actor supported Jorge Masvidal, who hails from the same city that the Hollywood star is from, which is Miami.
