The world of professional wrestling, especially the WWE, is all about larger-than-life characters, who, more often than not, create some of the most memorable moments that fans of different eras have grown up with. Most of this credit goes to the former leader of the WWE’s creative regime, Vince McMahon who is responsible for making the wrestling business what it is today. Interestingly, UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes that light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira carries the same aura as some of McMahon’s grandest creations.
For context, Chael Sonnen mentioned how Brock Lesnar was treated in the WWE. The former WWE and UFC Champion hardly participated in interviews during his time as a WWE superstar, to create and preserve his ‘Beast Incarnate’ aura. He was and is still one of the most destructive wrestlers, and was always treated as a ‘monster’ on screen. However, when the camera stops rolling, things get pretty candid behind the scenes, and Lesnar, on many occasions, has shown the real side of him that is just like any regular person. Sonnen believes that Alex Pereira has a similar persona to the 47-year-old in the UFC.
“There’s a really very fascinating concept [about Alex Pereira’s persona], and I bring it to you guys because he’s certainly following Vince McMahon’s code that monsters don’t speak, and he qualifies as a monster,” ‘The American Gangster’ stated on his YouTube channel. “When he goes to Brazil, he’s got the tribal background, which is fascinating… If you can take tools, largely, man-made tools and you can go out into the forest and you can survive… that is interesting. That qualifies as ‘warrior status.'”

Interestingly, Sonnen talked of a WWE-style persona when he too tried the same thing back in the day when he played ‘The Bad Guy’. Besides Alex Pereira arguably playing a professional wrestling persona in the UFC as the champion, he’s also crossed over recently to the WWE and even shared a moment with the biggest superstar in the business today.

However, that wasn’t the only glimpse we had regarding his trip down to the WWE event. The UFC light heavyweight champion also got to meet the ‘Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns backstage as they swapped T-shirts with each other.

The Brazilian certainly has that aura around him, and the theatric entrance only makes him more of a spectacle every time he steps inside the Octagon.
