There has been unstoppable news about UFC owners buying WWE recently. The news is partly confirmed but the hype among the fans can’t be contained. The popular Ultimate Fighting Championship was sold to WME or Endeavor company. Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta sold major stakes of UFC to Endeavor in 2016. The media company of Endeavor is presided over by an incredible businessman, Mark Shapiro. The president knows how to reach his way into profits. The company owns a few sports leagues but is looking for more. In a recent podcast as well, Shapiro showed his interest in the entertaining wrestling league, WWE.
There is a rumor that WWE will be out in the market for sale in a few years. Following the rumor, Mark Shapiro was asked whether he would be interested in buying WWE. The news has spread like wildfire since then. There are argumentative opinions on the prospect of WWE under Endeavor. Dana White’s UFC and Vince McMahon’s WWE have seen various previous crossovers.

Even though it was not until December 2022 that the rumors of UFC’s parent company buying WWE started, the two fighting leagues played important roles in each other’s growth. Since the start, the crossover has been a part of their culture. WWE’s management style inspired and helped the UFC in its starting days. In return, UFC has also helped the wrestling league to up its game.

When UFC’s woman pioneer Ronda Rousey left the MMA league, she decided to join WWE instead. The hype around the woman fighter was so built up that it helped WWE with its viewership. Although these help until now have been indirect and unintentional, it is important to note that both leagues have played a significant role in each other’s growth.
Several journalists like Ariel Helwani have also noticed and tweeted about the similarities between the two leagues. Is this to further hint at Endeavor buying WWE?

As mentioned earlier, the prospectus of WWE blooming under Endeavor is argumentative. However, Shapiro believes that since they have handled UFC in an outstanding manner, WWE will be treated no differently.
Helwani, the infamous MMA journalist recently tweeted, “WWE and UFC are the only combat sports entities on the planet that can generate this kind of gate without announcing a single fight/match. This is the dream of every promoter/promotion but they are the only two who have made it a reality. Supremely impressive.”

WWE fans may be close to witnessing a massive change in their favorite league. Although Endeavor wouldn’t change the basics of the league, he may be able to improve it for the better.
