Nate Diaz bid adieu to the UFC Octagon in a befitting fashion. The ‘Stockton Slapper’ completed his UFC contract with his final fight against Tony Ferguson on UFC 279. He left the Octagon with another victory, where he displayed his vintage character, playing and teasing the opponent.

Nate Diaz’s inside-the-ring action made all the news, but at the same time, his outside-the-Octagon views also received attention. The UFC veteran is known for his brash and blunt opinions. Obviously, he adopted the same approach when he shared his opinion of the new UFC footwear sponsor, Project Rock. He received affirmation from an unlikely source- adult actress Kendra Lust.

Kendra Lust replied to a tweet that shared the unfortunate details about the new sponsorship deal. The tweet detailed how UFC fighters are compelled to wear Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s shoes but aren’t paid for it. She replied to the same tweet, “Like @NateDiaz209 said those shoes suck!”

The details of the non-sharing of sponsorship revenue with athletes became a trending issue on social media.

What did Nate Diaz say?

Nate Diaz, ahead of his last contracted bout, was in an interview on ESPN. As expected of him in an interview, he expressed his opinion about the deal to the host, Megan Olivi. He said, “These shoes f***ing suck!” He then went on to display the shoes on the camera and further added, “Look at these shoes. They made me put this sh** on. F*** these shoes!”

UFC’s sponsorship deal with The Rock

UFC, earlier this year, announced this new multi-year footwear sponsorship deal with The Project Rock. Under Armour owns The Project Rock, and this deal marks the entry of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson into UFC. The shoes are to be used by both male and female fighters on the UFC roster. The deal includes every UFC event from weigh-ins to the main events.

Instead of the looks and comfort of the shoes, the deal was the debating topic for all the wrong reasons. Bloody Elbow revealed the details of the deal and claimed that the fighters won’t be getting paid for the products they will be wearing.
