There have been many movies made on different sports icons. But Hollywood star Zac Efron chose to star in a movie featuring the life of a legendary family of professional wrestlers in ‘The Iron Claw’. He worked with former wrestlers for this movie, and one of them was Chavo Guerrero Jr. The former WWE and AEW wrestler opened up on his experience working with the 36-year-old superstar to UFC legend Quinton Jackson.

Zac Efron garnered fame after his work in ‘High School Musical’. He has since become a prominent star in Hollywood and is often regarded as a heartthrob for his looks and impeccable physique. Chavo Guerrero Jr. tells Quinton Jackson that Zac Efron works like a machine

The former WWE and AEW star made an appearance on Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson’s ‘JAXXON Podcast‘. There, he mentioned how great it was working with Zac Efron, who trained with him for ‘The Iron Claw’, and praised his work ethic. Guerrero Jr. said, “He’s a machine man. He’s awesome. Great guy… just a cool, cool dude. He knew what he had to look like [for ‘The Iron Claw’].”

Chavo Guerrero Jr. also mentioned the way Zac Efron took care of his diet. He would stop mid-training to tell the 53-year-old wrestling veteran that he had to intake food. Efron would do that throughout the day to make sure that his bulking process did not take a hit.

“He knew what he had to look like [for ‘The Iron Claw’]. So we’d be in the ring training, and he’d be like, ‘Hold on, I’ve got to get this meal in’, and go gets his meal in real quick, and an hour later, he’d be getting a shake in. He was just like a machine,” Guerrero Jr. added. Moreover, it is important to note that Efron’s hard work did not go to waste as ‘The Iron Claw’ received great reviews from viewers and critics.

‘The Iron Claw’ received positive reviews

Mickey Rourke starred in one of the first popular movies about a professional wrestler, named ‘The Wrestler’. The movie had a good story which was based on the life of a fictional character with some real-life elements. However, the movie did not become as successful as the Zac Efron-starrer did. ‘The Iron Claw’, based on the life of the legendary wrestling family, The Von Erichs, received widespread acclaim.

Fans and critics all seemed to love the characters portrayed by Zac Efron (Kevin Von Erich) and his co-stars. Moreover, the National Board of Review named ‘The Iron Claw’ as one of the top 10 movies of the year 2023, and IMDb gave it a rating of 8.1 stars out of 10. It also had a great opening day in theatres. The movie surely shows how popular professional wrestling has become in today’s era while also cementing Efron’s position as one of the top stars in Hollywood.
