Jorge Masvidal Challenged for BMF Belt With a Dwayne Johnson Request – ‘Who’s the Baddest Mother-Fudger in the UFC?’

After delivering arguably the fight of the year at UFC 281, Michael Chandler has pitched an idea for a potential barnburner clash against UFC’s BMF, Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal. ‘Iron Mike’ brought all the heat against fellow lightweight Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 until Poirier submitted him in the third.

Chandler currently sits at #5 in the UFC lightweight rankings. He is 3-2 in the UFC since his debut but has never been in a boring fight, and he has no plans to start now.

Michael Chandler aims for the BMF fight against Jorge Masvidal

During a recent interview with ESPN, Michael Chandler mentioned the fights that interested him. The 36-year-old is still angling for a super showdown against ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor. However, McGregor is still on the sidelines with no return date.

As a result, the fighter has another big opponent he wants to face.

Outside of the McGregor clash, Chandler named Jorge Masvidal as a fight that interested him. He also made a claim that he himself is the BMF in the UFC right now. “You tell me who the BMF is… If we did a poll right now, who’s the baddest mother fudger in the UFC?”

Chandler continued, “I think I got a couple of awards on my mantle right now. I think I’ll add a couple more. Possibly knockout of the year. Possibly fight of the year of 2023. But that BMF belt sure would look good next to ’em.”

While pitching his idea for a BMF fight against Masvidal, Chandler also suggested the UFC bring back Dwayne Johnson to give away the title, as they did in 2019. After all, it was a huge event back then.

Chandler wants ‘The Rock’ back for a second BMF title fight

Michael Chandler sounded really fired up about the prospect of a BMF fight against Jorge Masvidal. The #5 ranked lightweight recently lost a high-profile fight against Dustin Poirier. However, he looked to be in good spirits despite the loss.

“… tell me that wouldn’t get the juices flowing of the entire mixed martial arts world. Michael Chandler vs. Jorge Masvidal for the BMF belt. The Rock walking in with it over his shoulder and then handing it to me fifteen minutes later.”

The 2019 BMF fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz was one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year. The fight ended in a doctor’s stoppage and ‘The Rock’ put the belt around Masvidal’s waist. Diaz vs. Masvidal headlined MSG that year.
