Ronda Rousey is arguably the biggest name in women’s MMA. The 2008 Olympic gold medalist became the first woman to taste UFC gold. Her performance in the octagon paved the way for the growth of women’s MMA. However, while Rousey was enjoying her run as a star, UFC color commentator Joe Rogan had something interesting to say regarding her.

Rogan took to his Twitter and mentioned that Rousey’s dominance in the octagon calls for the inclusion of ring boys. The color commentator wrote, “Since @RondaRousey is arguably the biggest star in MMA now when are we going to see octagon boys carrying round cards? @bryancallen is ready”

The color commentator’s comments drew mixed reactions from fans. However, the one person who would be pleased with it is none other than former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Khabib Nurmagomedov does not prefer having ring girls in his promotion

After retiring from the sport of mixed martial arts, Khabib Nurmagomedov has donned the hat of a promoter. The former 155-pound UFC champion is successfully running his promotion named Eagle FC. While the promotion is based in Russia, it has also made its debut on American soil.

During a press conference, Khabib Nurmagomedov had a very strong opinion on ring girls in the sport of MMA. The fighter believed that the ring girls did not add any value to the event.

Speaking about the issue, Nurmagomedov said, “Look I don’t want to offend anyone. Ring girls are the most useless people in martial arts. What is their function? I have a question. You can show it is the second round on the screen.

While the former champion received a lot of flak for his comments, Nurmagomedov stood firm by his claim. Until now, Eagle FC has never seen the appearance of a ring girl, and with ‘The Eagle’ at the helm, it seems unlikely.
