During the #2068 episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, the famed podcaster mentioned that a few of his comedian friends participated in his supposed fitness ‘boot camp’. The training regimen comprised a variety of exercises along with cold plunges and sauna. The team was joined by none other than the famed WWE superstar turned actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
“We’re with The Rock. We worked out for three hours,” said an excited Joe Rogan. Apparently, he spent a considerable amount of time to figure out that ‘The Rock’ had a few limitations. In a surprising revelation, the UFC color commentator claimed that Johnson suffered from issues relating to mobility and flexibility.
Rogan initially mentioned that although he did a decent job at the session, but expectedly, The Rock “killed it.” While he praised the work ethics of Johnson, Rogan also was critical about certain routines where the 51-year-old icon struggled. “He [The Rock] did pretty good. Except for the mobility stuff.” stated Joe Rogan. The 56-year-old further added, “Like windmills, he struggled with windmills, and he struggled with a couple of things.”
Mobility exercises have a lot of importance, primarily for athletes. Joe Rogan confirmed that statement by claiming that it is an essential part of martial arts. “They require flexibility, they require range of motion and core strength… those apply very well to functional strengths like martial arts,” the 56-year-old told his guest Cameron Hanes. Speaking of martial arts, Dwayne Johnson recently made some stunning claims regarding MMA during his first-ever appearance on the JRE.
‘The Rock’ was considering a career in MMA in 1997
People were waiting for the former 10-time world champion for a long time to appear on Joe Rogan’s famed podcast. This was largely due to the history between the two. While Rogan had openly criticized Johnson and had posed significant doubts about his natty status, it was indeed surprising when Brahma Bull did turn up. In fact, eminent UFC stars like Chael Sonnen stated that Johnson might be running for the Presidential election, which made Rogan to host the WWE star.

However, they were not expecting Johnson to claim that he once thought of trying MMA. He revealed that he wanted to make his name in Japan in 1997 and leave the WWE. ‘The Rock’ claimed that his earnings in WWE were less compared to what the fighters in PRIDE were making and consulted legends like Ken Shamrock about a potential move. According to Johnson, PRIDE was paying their wrestlers a whopping $500k while The Rock earned only $150k at WWE. “I start talking to Ken Shamrock, who was wrestling with us. I run into Mark Kerr, and I start talking to him. He tells me a little bit about Pride, and I have this idea in my head – well, maybe I should train for MMA and go to Pride, make real money.”
There were a lot of people who called out ‘The Rock’ for some of the inconsistencies in his story. However, he has nothing to worry about since he made his decision to stick with the WWE and become one of the biggest names both in sports entertainment and in Hollywood.
