Ronda Rousey has become a big name in UFC, WWE, and the Olympics. The judoka turned MMA fighter and professional wrestler is the first woman to have ever entered the UFC Hall of Fame. Moreover, her opponents soon learned to fear her presence in the arena. Although her debut in MMA was against Liz Carmouche, Rousey’s bout against Miesha Tate was the one that made her fearsome. However, the credit for the victory definitely goes to the ones who coached her.

Rousey’s journey toward success began at a very young age, with her mother as her coach. But then, her decision to join Pedro’s gym is what turned her into an Olympian. With perfect techniques, she has now become a force to be reckoned with.

Ronda Rousey began her journey very early, she was molded from the young age of 14 into the champion she is by none other than Jim Pedro Jr and Sr. It was Pedro’s gym that prepared the fighter to earn the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics

Up until her teenage, ‘Rowdy’ was trained by her mother, Dr. AnnMarie DeMars. However, as she grew older, it was not feasible enough, as Rousey required more challenges. Rousey joined the Hayastan Academy, run by Gokor Chivichyan. Surprisingly, DeMars was skeptical since she believed ‘Armenian people don’t like women’

Thereafter, DeMars contacted Chivichyan with her concerns. She revealed, “So I called up Gokor, who is partners with Gene in the club. I told him ‘I have to be out of town a lot and her older sister, who is 17, is going to be driving Ronda to practice a lot. Is that okay? I’ve heard things about your club, but give me your word and I’ll send her.’ And Gokor said ‘I give you my word. If anybody hurts your daughter, touches your daughters, I will personally kill him.'”

Rousey’s interest in judo came from her mother, who was crowned to be the world champion in judo, in 1984. DeMars became Rousey’s first coach to lift her up. DeMars revealed that ‘Rowdy’ had a lot of trouble back when she was in school. That was the reason why she decided to learn judo. But judo not only helped her get through school but also make a career.

In the end, it was definitely Rousey’s mother who was the proudest. “She went from not fighting in a senior tournament ever to sitting on a flight to go to the olympic games in four months”, said the proud mom.

Nonetheless, Rousey’s name has been written in the golden records as she not only won at the Olympic Games, but also claimed titles at UFC as well as WWE. Her high-level skills scored her place in the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.
