While you have seen some UFC stars cross over to WWE, the reverse rarely comes true. A notable exception is Brock Lesnar, but there are chances that WWE legend Kurt Angle could have joined him. The talks, intent, and offer were there, but it all crumbled down due to his career-threatening injury.

Notably, the American wrestler recalled the time when he almost joined the ranks of the UFC when he sat down with Joe Rogan. He shared a good dynamic with UFC president Dana White, and the latter even offered him a couple of deals. One of them included the coaching duties on The Ultimate Fighter against Kimbo Slice, which both parties agreed upon until one hiccup dashed it.

Speaking to the color commentator on JRE #ep. 2026, the 54-year-old mentioned that he had concerns about TUF coaches not getting paid. He wanted to get paid, and the UFC boss duly recognized his demand. Besides, his six-fight contract with the UFC was sealed, irrespective of the result of the fight.

“So he was going to pay me to be on the show. But he said, ‘If you win, you are going to get a six-fight deal and if you lose, I’ll probably still give a six-fight deal. Because I think you are going to be really good’,” the WWE veteran recounted.

Hence, the UFC had the deal in the bag, and all it required was a physical test. Only a few technical procedures separated the wrestler from his UFC debut, but those remained unfulfilled. The former Olympic athlete failed the physical test. While he initially regretted it, he eventually made peace with it as he never stepped into the Octagon with a broken neck.

The WWE star then detailed how, when he went to see the UFC head honcho, he even failed to do five pushups. He had long suffered from neck injuries dating back to his 1996 Olympics days. “So I’m glad I didn’t because my neck… I broke my neck five times,” Angle continued. “I want to fight with these world-class fighters, and my neck is like so messed up. My arms. I can’t do pushups. I can’t do anything, and I would have get my b*tt handed to me.”

The damages could have even left him paralyzed, which Angle himself admitted. He lastly declared, “I might have been ended up getting paralyzed, to be honest with you. I was in no shape or condition to be able to compete with those guys. I was fooling myself, and I’m glad I failed the physical.”
