“I Just Didn’t Care”- Being Donald Trump and Dwayne Johnson’s Favorite Fighter, Jorge Masvidal Gives His Honest Opinion on Their Presence for Nate Diaz Fight at UFC 244

Jorge Masvidal became the first-ever BMF champion after defeating Nate Diaz at UFC 244. Even former president Donald Trump and WWE superstar-turned-Hollywood actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson were also there to witness the fight. However, their presence at the arena did not seem to faze ‘Gamebred’ as he came out to fight the Stockton native.

Jorge Masvidal’s BMF title win was perhaps his most notable achievement during his time in the UFC. Donald Trump, who was the president of the United States at the time, came to watch the fight. Moreover, Dwayne Johnson was there to coronate the first-ever champion. Even in the presence of such influential personalities, ‘Gamebred’ did not seem to care too much.

Jorge Masvidal was not thinking about the ‘The Rock’ or Trump at UFC 244

Two of the UFC’s most entertaining and hardcore fighters – Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal – fought in the main event at UFC 244 back in November 2019. The fight did not disappoint since both of them were absolute warriors and many celebrities came to witness the showdown. Among them were Donald Trump and Dwayne Johnson. During a recent appearance on ‘The Fighter and The Kid Podcast’, Jorge Masvidal was asked if their presence affected him during the fight against Diaz. He replied by claiming that he didn’t care.

Masvidal said, “The Rock was giving the belt… and then Trump was at cage side. So, before the fight, I just didn’t care.” He further added that the fight against Diaz zoned him out and he thought about addressing those personalities only after the fight was over. “I was like, completely zeroed out and I was like, I’ll have fun with all that at the end of it, whatever the results are,” said Masvidal. Moreover, that fight was serious business for him.

‘Gamebred’ came for a fistfight against Nate Diaz

Jorge Masvidal mentioned that he was there for a war against the Stockton native. He didn’t really think about anybody who was present there, not even his mother. He added, “Right now, I am here for a fistfight. I don’t really give a f*** who came, who didn’t come. If my mom came, I don’t give a f***.”

As soon as he got locked inside the cage, all Masvidal could think of was the fact that he was there for a fight. And at that moment, he felt selfish and wanted to take his opponent down. He added, “I am here to fight… You gotta be selfish [because] I tried to kill his a**.”

It isn’t unusual for fighters to feel zoned out during their fights just to concentrate on their opponent. As a result of his dismissal of the celebrities present during the event, Masvidal scored a massive win to become the BMF champion and etched his name in the UFC’s history books. The conversations of a rematch also died out, eventually. However, it remains one of the biggest moments of ‘Gamebred’s MMA career.
