In a part of the book that would leave even the toughest of individuals heartbroken, Rousey recollects the day her father decided to take his life. The former UFC champion had a very hazy memory of the day but goes on to share her side of the story.
“I like to think he hugged Jennifer and me for longer than normal and told us he loved us and that he was going out, but honestly, I don’t remember,” recollected Rousey.

The 35-year-old even disclosed the unreasonable self-hatred that it led to. “For years, I hated myself for having been such a self-absorbed eight-year-old that I had no clue what was happening.”
Rousey also talks about how she has tried remembering the exact details of her father in those last few moments. “I’ve tried to remember something from the before part of that day—what my dad was wearing, what he looked like, what he sounded like. Whether he hugged us that day. I wish I could remember the words he said to me before he walked out our front door. I can’t. I just remember what came after.”
It is understandable that as an eight-year-old, it would have been extremely difficult to comprehend the situation’s complexity. But it clearly exhibits the emotional influence it had on her over the years.

Ronda Rousey’s father’s medical condition
Ron Rousey suffered from a rare blood disorder similar to hemophilia, which would have eventually rendered him a quadriplegic. Along with that, a broken neck from a previous accident left him in an extremely helpless situation. She revealed how their small family outing turned into a nightmare as her father broke his neck.

Her father’s death clearly had a deep impact on Rousey, as readers can understand from her book. The fact that it led to feelings of guilt in her, must have taken years for the former champion to get over his death.
