Israel Adesanya is preparing for the fight of his life this weekend against Alex Pereira. He will face his archrival in a rematch for the UFC middleweight title at UFC 287 on April 8. Pereira is already 3-0 up against ‘Izzy’ across two different sports. Therefore, this fight is a must-win situation for the former champion.
Meanwhile, big things are happening outside the octagon for the UFC. Its parent company Endeavor has acquired pro wrestling giant, WWE. Now, the biggest promotions in MMA and pro wrestling are under the same roof. As a result, fans and pros are discussing potential crossovers between the two promotions.
We have seen stars like Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, and CM Punk try their hands in the UFC and the WWE. With the merger, many fans and pros believe such crossovers are more possible now than ever.

Former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier discussed this subject in the latest episode of ESPN’s DC & RC. While talking to his co-host Ryan Clark, Cormier named Adesanya to be one UFC star who could be a WWE champion one day. Cormier also had his reasons to make such a claim.
Daniel Cormier believes Israel Adesanya could be a WWE Champion
Speaking to Ryan Clark, Cormier said, “You know, in terms of becoming champion, it takes such a commitment, but you know, you name the guy. I think Israel Adesanya would fit perfectly. He’s got the personality, he’s got the swagger. He’s got the ability to entertain, and ultimately that is what wrestling is about. It’s sports entertainment.”
The 44-year-old highlighted how pro wrestling does not pretend to be a sport anymore. ‘DC’ also called back to Adesanya’s Undertaker-themed walkout at UFC 276.
He said, “I think Israel Adesanya when you look at ‘The Undertaker’ walkout… Dude, Vince is very protective about those types of things. He was in the arena when Izzy did it. So those worlds kind of came together and it was Adesanya that was at the forefront of it. And I believe that he would work very well within that type of system.”
