Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is among the greatest stars in WWE history. The 51-year-old, with his natural charisma, excellent mic skills, and a penchant for the theatrical, is the reason the ‘Attitude Era’ of the WWE is considered arguably the best ever.

Of course, he was working with absolute legends of the sport such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Edge, and Randy Orton. However, it was apparent even then that ‘The Rock’ was special. He went on to become the biggest Hollywood star and become a truly global icon. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been appointed to the board of TKO Holdings, the sports and entertainment parent company that owns the WWE and the UFC. This includes Johns0n receiving the rights and ownership of ‘The Rock’ trademark.

‘The Scorpion King’ star released a statement after the move, remembering his father and grandfather, both pro wrestlers, and said he was humbled at being appointed to the board. Johnson vowed to represent the “phenomenal athletes” on the board and help popularize the WWE and the UFC worldwide.

“Being on the TKO Board of Directors, and taking full ownership of my name, ‘The Rock,’ is not only unprecedented, but incredibly inspiring as my crazy life is coming full circle… I’m very motivated to help continue to globally expand our TKO, WWE, and UFC businesses as the worldwide leaders in sports and entertainment — while proudly representing so many phenomenal athletes and performers… I’ve been there, I’m still there and this is for them,” he said in a statement. And this move may even see the former champion in the WWE ring for his first match since 2016.
