Daniel Cormier took to Twitter and fired out at former WWE Superstar Booker T, following comments made by the latter. The former two-division UFC champion came to the aid of a friend and ESPN colleague Ariel Helwani over the weekend. Chiefly, Booker T has been entrenched in a spirited beef with both Helwani and Cormier who host ESPN’s ‘DC and Helwani’.
The hosts of the popular MMA show have a segment towards the end of the episode that often trolls the WWE icon. In turn, Booker T has used his own platform to clap back at both Helwani and Cormier. However, the famed MMA reporter oftentimes bears the worst of Booker T’s insults. Chiefly, Cormier wasn’t having any of it and made sure to stand up for his co-host, who joined in gleefully.
Hey @dc_mma did you ever notice that before we put over @BookerT5x no one was talking about him … and now he’s starring in indy music videos? I haven’t gotten a thank you yet, you? Weird.

Ariel Helwani, who is an avid pro-wrestling fan, couldn’t get enough of the Royal Rumble that aired over the weekend. His Twitter timeline was filled with comments about the event, and that served as just the right of ammunition for Booker T. The iconic pro-wrestler didn’t account for DC’s entry into the conversation.
Thank you, champ. It’s an honor to call you a friend. I’d never expect you to appear in an indy music video https://t.co/Mkxs27NMIQ

The fighter turned commentator is truly endeared by the MMA community, and the aforementioned tweet is a clear indication as to why. Cormier’s successfully made the leap into the broadcasting spectrum, however, his UFC reign is hard to forget. UFC 252 in August 2020 served as the final time he stepped into the UFC’s octagon.
Cormier’s career highs aren’t limited to the UFC alone, as the genesis of his success can be traced back to his wrestling days. The Olympian made his name known to the MMA world following his Strikeforce heavyweight Grand Prix victory. Cormier entered the ranks of the tournament after Alistair Overeem fell out. He immediately came in and starched ‘Big Foot’ Silva and Josh Barnett to claim gold.

The Future Hall of Famer improved on his early success by claiming two belts in the UFC. However, Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic invariably prevented Cormier from leaving the sport as the unanimous GOAT. He continues to be a major part of the fabric of the MMA world, and his contributions to the sport are incomparable.
