In a recent video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Chael Sonnen stated that the fact that Kurt Angle wrestled with a neck injury gave him a great sense of pride. Given it turned out to be an important aspect of his wrestling character. Sonnen said, “It’s really important to Kurt that he wrestled with a broken neck. That is super important. It’s a sign of pride to Kurt, I believe”

Chael Sonnen believes that it is not the right example to set for people who look up to him and his achievements. Sonnen believes that there are instances when people need to toughen up to pursue their goals, and then there are also times when they need to take a step back and cater to their injuries. It is because one wrong move during competitions can render an athlete motionless. This could have ramifications in the future. “There’s a time to be tough and to push through and there’s a time that you’re injured. And when one foul movement by the other guy, not even by yourself, stops your ability to be mobile for the rest of your life,” Sonnen added.

Regardless of what people might say or think, the neck injury was certainly not a good spot for Kurt Angle to have been in. He went through many surgeries to repair that and while performing for the WWE, he even got addicted to Vicodin pills to cater to the pain. However, he pushed through those troubled times and became a legend in his own right.
