They say never meet your heroes lest you be disappointed. And Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was arguably a hero of many 90’s kids. With his undeniable charisma and incredible mic skills, his rivalries against Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, and Hulk Hogan were some of the most entertaining storylines in the WWE. And all of this was before he became a household name as a bona fide movie star.

But, in Johnson’s case, it seems that the old saying does not hold true. ‘The Rock’ has impressed his fans by gifting a homeless UFC fighter a house after learning about his heart-wrenching story.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson gifted Zimbabwean UFC fighter Themba Gorimbo with a fully-furnished house in Miami after coming to know of his inspirational story. He lost his mother when he was 9 years old, followed by his father four years later. The fighter moved to the United States to pursue his dream of fighting in the UFC with just $7 dollars in his pocket. After winning his first fight in the UFC earlier this year, he auctioned off his fight kit. He sent the proceeds to his village in so they could install a bush pump to provide clean water there. The fighter was homeless and used to live in the gym where he trained in Miami before getting the house.

Gorimbo refernced his mamba mentality in the tweet. The phrase was made popular by Kobe Bryant who saw it as an approach of “attacking what’s in front of you with passion and purpose, without fear,” and “to try to be our best versions constantly”. And Gorimbo, who has overcome so much in his life with a granite will and never-back-down attitude is the embodiment of this mamba mentality.
