A young Israel Adesanya might not have envisioned he would meet the man he admired most while growing up. More so, the possibility of sharing a close-knit friendship with him would have evaded his wildest dreams. ‘Stylebender’ is a fan of Dwayne Johnsons generational abilities on the mic and his stunning moves. Sitting before a TV set, the Nigerian-Kiwi fighter tried to emulate those. Now a few years down, the two have bonded over a Bunny Chow and a walkout song as Adesanya again replicates the Hollywood actor.

Notably, both have publicly acknowledged their fondness for each other. Both have exchanged heartwarming messages with each other on their socials. While the Hollywood entertainer has an ambitious project coming up – Project Rock, the UFC champion posted a funny clip in honor of his idol.

The 33-year-old turned to his Instagram handle and shared entertaining visuals of him enjoying his time off the Octagon. The fans could listen to the former professional wrestler’s iconic walkout song, Electrifying, as the action unfolds.

In the Instagram story, the 24-2 record holder is seen emulating and delivering The Jumanji star’s famed move, Rock Bottom. He also captioned it with three thunder emojis.

This is not the first time when the middleweight champion has used The Rock’s ring music. After a dominant display against Marvin Vettori at UFC 263, he left the arena with Johnson’s signature music playing in the background. This even caught the Black Adams star’s attention as he called him “my boy” and appreciated the love Adesanya had showered him.

Likewise, when the Auckland native prepared for his next fight ahead of UFC 271, Johnson gifted him a special cheat meal called ‘Bunny Chow’. The delicious South African delicacy melted in the MMA fighter’s mouth and he shared the same with his fans. Therefore, the bond between the two is ever-growing.

The two also recently closed paths at UFC 290 when Johnson registered his presence to promote his brand. “I’ve put so much heart, blood, sweat, and respect into the brand,” he had declared when he penned the sponsorship deal with the UFC. Taking a step further, he recently launched a new shoe line.

Despite the promotions and his fame, The Rock’s new venture has failed to garner enough support in the promotion.

Project Rock- Dwayne Johnson’s ambitious brand or affliction for UFC fighters?

The deal announced last year, made the WWE superstar’s apparel brand the UFC’s official footwear. The fighters are required to don the shoes during the official fight week activities. That includes open workouts, ceremonial and official weigh-ins. He was even part of the face-offs for the inauguration of the BMF title contested between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz.

Curiously, the deal benefits most stakeholders but the fighters. The fighters are not the party with whom the revenue will be shared. This arrangement attracted backlash from the community as fighters in the UFC aren’t allowed to have outside sponsors and don’t receive revenue for repping the merch. This did not sit down well with the fanbase and fighters alike as fighter pay is still a rather contentious topic within the UFC.
