And in a candid interview on ?The Halfcast Podcast?, he shed light on the possibility of him joining the WWE after the company merged with the UFC, even if for a stint than a full-time commitment.

Israel Adesanya addresses his wrestling future

Israel Adesanya opened up on the podcast about his love for wrestling, his wish to meet Rey Mysterio and attend WrestleMania. But what UFC and WWE alike wanted to hear was addressed later in the podcast when the champion discussed the prospects of him joining the likes of Brock Lesnar, Rhonda Rousey, and Cain Velasquez in the squared circle.

“I always thought maybe I would, but I think I’ll do like stints like one, two, or maybe three but not like a weekly thing,”?said the champion.

Following the statement, clarified the decision of having occasional appearances by stating how being a full-time wrestler would be doing a ?disservice? to himself.

Adesanya explained, ?Personally I like to write my own story, I don’t want a writer writing my story and making me a heel this month and then the good guy this month. I’d rather just write my own story and yeah, I just feel like it’ll take away from me and it’ll be a disservice to myself. If I let someone else write my story and dictate how I’m perceived.”

Further, the 34-year-old went on to reveal how WWE legend Dwayne Johnson inspired his dream to perform for them.

He said, ?Watching him (The Rock) on the mic, just roast five people five minutes straight and that?s just like a stand-up show. You know, playing with the mic and that kind of stuff, it seeps in and then you take bits and pieces, you?re inspired by those things.?

While Israel Adesanya?s future WWE career still somewhat remains a mystery, ‘Stylebender’ has a possible title defense lined up this fall in what will be a much-anticipated event.
