A UFC fighter in their prime vs. a boxer at their peak—who wins? Let’s start throwing names now. Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou or Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather. What about a battle of the sexes involving Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather? UFC commentator Joe Rogan had seemingly tipped the scales in the former UFC champion’s favor when he passed the judgment. However, it seems his claims are based on a decade-old stint on Fear Factor.

NBC’s dare show kept every viewer on the edge of their seat. The dangerous stunts, along with the color commentator, added to the show’s appeal. Not only did the show make the UFC commentator a household face, but it also taught him something about the men vs. woman argument.

The 56-year-old appeared in the latest episode of his popular podcast and sat down with fellow comedians Ari Shaffir, Mark Normand, and Shane Gillis. The comic quartet initially discussed American shows, and the famed podcaster enthusiastically remembered the American Gladiators show that ran in the mid-90s. Further, he expressed his liking for the Ninja Warrior show.

“Bro, some people are very good at that. It’s very entertaining. Like to be really good at that, you got to a be a f*cking athlete,” the JRE host expressed. Shaffir then comically pointed out that the best part was a 160-pound woman holding onto the hamster wheels for a longer duration on the American show.

Following this, Rogan was reminded of a famous stunt on his show, Fear Factor, that solidified his outlook. “We found out that on Fear Factor. When we did, like these guys had to hang from a pole over some water,” he declared. “And the men broke way before than the women. Makes sense.”

Hence, the American podcaster had seen the underlined athletic abilities that women displayed on his show, which ran for six seasons. While the show made a return in 2011, it failed to replicate its previous success, and its run was cut short. Therefore, when ‘Rowdy’ had a dominating run in the UFC, the former Fear Factor host was captivated, and that influenced his infamous statement involving Rousey and Mayweather.

In the subsequent interviews, the noted TV presenter admitted to hyping up Rousey with his comments. Currently, Rousey is the hot subject of the rumor mill, as talks of her UFC comeback have gained traction. Meanwhile, the undefeated 50-0 boxer continues his sporadic exhibition bouts. It appears the golden hour to host a battle of the sexes in combat sports has passed, and fans can only speculate.
