Conor McGregor is one of the most vocal celebrities and athletes on social media. Having witnessed what many female athletes had to say about women getting underpaid, ‘The Notorious’ shared a message on social media following the release of the ‘Forbes‘ list. “Women deserve to be paid more,” wrote the Irishman in a tweet.

Conor McGregor believes that women in sports have made enough impact to see their payout increase significantly. Meanwhile, the 2023 list saw the 20 top-earning women made an estimated $226 million combined. Their earning dropped 13 percent from 2022, when it was $258 million. However, the whole decline in earnings can be attributed to the tennis legend Serena Williams, who earned $41 million in 2022. Now, let us look at some of the details about the athletes’ earnings from this year’s list.

Venus Williams’ and Simone Biles’s earnings dropped substantially

Serena’s sister Venus Williams‘s earnings amounted to $12.2, which shows a $100,000 increase from the previous year. Moreover, fellow tennis player Naomi Osaka earned $15 million, which was a far cry from her 2022 earnings, which stood at $51.1 million. Then, when we look at Simone Biles’s earnings, it dropped by $2.9 million from 2022, as she earned a sum of $7.1 million.
