UFC lightweight star Michael Chandler is biding his time to get his hands on Conor McGregor. Despite their TUF stint earlier this year, there is still no official announcement for the fight yet. Owing to the uncertainty surrounding Conor McGregor’s USADA situation, both Chandler and the fans are in the dark about if or when the fight will even happen.

However, Chandler is not slacking off in his off-season. The 37-year-old is putting in the effort to stay in shape and be ready for the fight announcement. The former Bellator champion’s Instagram feed is loaded with clips of him switching on his ‘beast mode’ in the gym.

One of the most athletic fighters at the moment, there are still things that Chandler wants to do to improve his physical condition. One of those is a practice that Olympic legend Michael Phelps follows.

In a recent collaboration with YouTuber Jesse James West, Michael Chandler gave the fans a peek into his fitness regimen and daily routine. ‘Iron’ also put West through some of his grueling workouts to give him a taste of what a fighter goes through in a workout session.

The former UFC title challenger spoke about the uncertainty surrounding the Conor McGregor fight. He also opened up about his training camp and dietary restrictions during fight prep. He said he occasionally opted for a carnivore diet outside training camps to stay lean. However, he had something he wanted to do but could not.

Chandler said, “You’ve all heard Michael Phelps ate like 20,000 calories in a day. I probably would feel a lot better if I could do that, but I can’t. I have to calorie restrict in order to go from 190 to 155. 1200 to 1400 calories in a day and training twice a day, and sometimes three times a day.”
