23-year-old American Swimmer Riley Gaines has been demanding justice in women’s sports for a few years now. She recently appeared on the JRE podcast, where she opened up on the situation in women’s sports as Joe Rogan mentioned why he thinks Gaines is a role model for children around the world.

Riley Gaines is a 12-time All-American swimmer. She was also one of the first female athletes to talk about the atrocities that take place in not just her sport, but in other sports as well. Gaines talked to Joe Rogan and mentioned how things have progressed since she started protesting in 2022.

Riley Gaines claims good things are happening for female athletes in 2024

Riley Gaines faced a lot of backlash when she talked about the removal of trans athletes from women’s sports. There were even demonstrations against her for those demands, even involving students from Harvard University. However, Gaines stood firm and now, she claims that things have changed for the better even though people like to pay attention to the negative aspects more.

“There’s been a lot of good stuff that’s been done [in women’s sports]. We see a lot of the negative… because that’s what gets attention,” said Riley Gaines. The 23-year-old also mentioned that in her couple of years of struggle, many states have taken action to bring fairness in women’s sports in 2024.

“But now, in just two short years, 24 states have some sort of fairness in women’s sports bills when only, three years ago, only one state did… I certainly celebrate the little ones when we get them,” Gaines added. Meanwhile, Joe Rogan seemed impressed with the All-American swimmer’s grit and determination as he went on to reveal why he believes Riley Gaines has an undeterred commitment.

Joe Rogan claims children should dive into sports like Gaines

The 56-year-old JRE host praised Riley Gaines for the struggles she’s been through. He believes that being a sportsperson is a real game-changer for the All-American swimmer. As such, he believes that children should also indulge themselves in sports to gain such mental fortitude as well. Rogan stated, “One of the things that I think is like one of the most important things kids can ever get involved in, that’s sports.”

Joe Rogan claimed that sports build discipline in children and that helps them make the right decisions for themselves and prepare themselves mentally for undertaking demanding tasks. “It [sports] teaches you a resolve, it teaches you when you have to swim six hours a day, you have to be strong mentally,” Joe Rogan added. Riley Gaines also added that what people learn in sports also applies to other facets of life. It [sports] transcends beyond just your athletic achievements,” Gaines stated.

One of the best things about Joe Rogan’s podcast is when such conversations, as the one he had with Riley Gaines, take place.
